- Description
Tingalpa Track & Field Training is a structured after-school athletics program designed to help students improve their overall athletic ability in a fun, supportive and encouraging environment.
Throughout Term 4, students will take part in a variety of track and field activities covering the key areas of running, jumping, throwing, coordination, agility and general fitness. Sessions are designed to give students plenty of opportunities to practise technique, build confidence and challenge themselves to improve their own personal bests.
Training may include sprint starts, acceleration drills, running technique, relay activities, hurdles, long jump, standing jump activities, throwing technique, modified shot put and other age-appropriate field events. Sessions also incorporate warm-ups, movement games, fitness challenges and team-based activities to keep training engaging and enjoyable.
Our coaches focus on teaching students the correct fundamentals while keeping the environment positive and inclusive. Students are encouraged to develop at their own pace, support their teammates and become more confident participating in school sport and athletics events.
The program is suitable for students with a wide range of experience. Children do not need to already participate in athletics or be highly competitive. Beginners can learn the basics in a comfortable environment, while more experienced students can continue developing their technique, speed, power and overall athletic performance.
Each session will generally include a structured warm-up, movement and coordination activities, focused skill development, track or field event practice, fitness or team challenges and a short cool-down. Activities will vary throughout the term so students experience multiple athletics disciplines rather than repeating the same event each week.
